Thoughts While Hoping Someone Brings Scrappy Back
No offense to Joe Vavra, Scott Ulger, Jerry White, etc...but I didn't know you guys before you were coaches. I miss Al Newman. Every team should be required to have a first or third base coach that played for the team between five and twenty-five years previously. Think of how fun it would be watching Kent Hrbek trying to wave someone home...with a dome dog in one hand and a Mike's Hard Lemonade in the other.
Here's my list of awesome (awesome=players I watched as a youngster) former players currently disguised as coaches:

Do you really mean to tell me that this team couldn't use Jarvis Brown as a baserunning coach right now?

Nicely done. Don't forget our man Carl Willis in Cleveland and their 3rd base coach, Joel Skinner. I love it. I would take Jarvis Brown, would love seeing Lombardozi/Gagne hit fielding practice, Keith Atherton throw batting practice, Ken Schatziter give "how to grow sweet mustache" lessons and Chilli Davis show how to hit the dome ceiling. A Sal Butera citing would be cool as well.
Coincidentally, I used a 25 ft boa constrictor to spice up my senior pictures in high school. IF you know what I mean...
How can you not love this guy?
Al Newman was, quite seriously, my favorite Twins player for quite a bit. I think he was de-throned by Lenny Webster, truth be told.
With that fond 8th or 9th grade memory in mind, I'm off to google Lenny and to see if I can track down my signed homer hanky...
Holy hell, this is probably the funniest post I've ever seen anywhere ever.
Kudos. That's all I can muster.
I can't believe I forgot the Big Train.
redemption?
