Picture Pages-Detroit Tigers

Monday:
Tigers 11 Twins 9
When you depend on something so often, it's going to let you down once in a while. Like alcoholism.

Tuesday:
Tigers 6 Twins 5
Long season...blah, blah, blah. I don't want to talk about it.

Dare to cliche: why do Minnesota sports teams ALWAYS seem to be the ones to "get teams back on track".

Arrgghhhh!

From the Strib:
Even with his setup men struggling, Gardenhire said he's reluctant to use closer Joe Nathan for more than three outs, saying: "At home, you can afford to bring him in there in the eighth. But it's a little tougher to do on the road. They tie it up, you go to extra innings, now somebody else is going to have to close out the ballgame."

You mean bringing Nathan in for the bottom of the 9th with nobody on base and the bottom of the Tigers line-up due up is a MORE important situation than, say, facing one of the best hitters in baseball with a one run lead in the 8th inning?! Douchebag.

I hate closers.

But it's true that we are the slumpbusters of the late aughts. I like that term for this decade because it's old tymey. Now excuse me while I check the stock ticker and bottle my bathtub gin.

I'm trying not to think about baseball.

But hey, here's a bad joke: Instead of using dynamite to level stadiums, they could just have the Twins bullpen pitch in it - it'd be imploded in about 8 pitches! Har har har *depression*

I heard Hillary hired the Twins bullpen to moderate the democratic debate tonight and lob softballs to her....
